I traveled from Aberdeen to Edinburgh with my 7yr old daughter who was diagnosed with Chiari malformation. My daughter had the operation at the sick children hospital in Edinburgh. The operation was successful, my daughter received very good treatment and care from all the amazing team at the hospital.

I am 69 years old and I was diagnosed with a meningiooma brain tumour. I was referred to Mr. Kandasamy, consultant neuro surgeon at Western General Hospital., Edinburgh.. I was operated on 3rd October 2020 by Mr. Kandasamy and his team. They successfully removed the tumour and I am now recuperating at home. The care and attention I received from Mr Kandasamy in particular was second to none, he tok the time to explain everything to me before and after the operation. Not forgetting his amazing tram, the nursing staff, cleaners and all the people involved with me. Thank you everyone.

I was suffering from sore back pain for a couple of months and it was progressively getting worse, it got to the stage I couldn’t walk, and my right foot had dropped, I went to A&E Edin Royal Infirmary 2 days after Christmas 2019, they referred me to Western General the following morning for a MRI scan which showed I had a large Cyst on my lower spine, a few hours later I was in theatre. 2 days later discharged. I cannot thank Mr Kandasamy enough, and all the staff at the Western General each and everyone are utterly amazing with there care and attention. I have just had a follow up call from Mr Kandasamy, which is very much appreciated and reassuring, and can only thank him for the fantastic job he did on me.

My GP gave me a diagnosis of lumbar stenosis, but also told me that at my age [85] I would have great difficulty in obtaining surgical treatment. Mr Kandasamy saw me within 2 weeks of my GP's referral. He was courteous, enquired about my symptoms, and carefully took me through the MRI scan pictures. In no way was I pressured to have this operation; instead I was warned of the serious risks including stroke and eye damage because of my age. However, my symptoms were worsening, and Mr Kandasamy saw me earlier than planned, and I went ahead with the operation. The operation went well, thanks to the super care by the team at Spire Murrayfield Hospital. Particular thanks to the skilled anaesthetist Dr Liz Steel, the wonderful nurses who spent time making me comfortable on the ward, the physiotherapists Sarah Atkinson and Sam Lockwood. I have had none of the complications, and at 6 weeks I am able to walk 2-3 miles. My grateful thanks to all the team at Spire Murrayfield Hospital - especially to Mr Kandasamy.

Mr Kandasamy has good people skills, he is approachable, he listens and looks at his patients holistically. He explains things. He gives good advice for after care. I had a back operation 17/01/19 by Mr Kandasamy and his team. Through their skill I have my mobility back again. I was in a wheelchair if I went out of the house. Now I can walk miles. This has made such a difference to my quality of life Mr Kandasamy's approach toward patients and his care is excellent.
